AMC (annual maintenance contract)

A yearly support agreement covering fixes, updates, user questions and small changes after the ERP goes live.

An AMC, or annual maintenance contract, is the support agreement a business signs with its implementer after go-live. It typically covers bug fixes, help with user questions, small configuration changes, applying platform updates and patches, monitoring, and a defined response time. It is priced annually and often includes a bank of hours or a defined service level.

It matters because an ERP is not finished at go-live. Staff change, regulations change, the platform releases new versions each year, and the business adds products, entities and processes. A UAE business facing e-invoicing and annual corporate tax filings needs someone accountable for keeping the system compliant and working.

In an ERP project, agree the AMC terms at the same time as the implementation contract, so support does not become a negotiation during hypercare. Check what is included and what is billed separately, the response times by severity, and whether version upgrades are in scope. An AMC with a named consultant who knows your setup is worth more than a generic helpdesk.
