The Tax Registration Number issued by the FTA to every VAT-registered business in the UAE.
A TRN, or Tax Registration Number, is the 15-digit identifier the Federal Tax Authority assigns when a business registers for VAT in the UAE. It must appear on every tax invoice and credit note you issue, and your suppliers' TRNs should appear on the invoices you receive.
It matters because input VAT can only be recovered on a valid tax invoice, and a valid tax invoice carries the supplier's TRN. Under e-invoicing the TRN becomes the identifier that routes documents through the Peppol network, so a wrong or missing TRN on a customer record will block delivery rather than just look untidy.
In an ERP project, make the TRN a mandatory, validated field on customer and supplier master data, and clean it during data migration rather than after go-live. Check the TRN format, check it against the FTA lookup for key accounts, and make sure invoice templates print it in the right place.
