Odoo's free open-source edition compared with the licensed edition that adds full accounting, localisation and more apps.
Odoo comes in two editions. Community is free and open source, with a core set of apps and no licence fee, but a thinner feature set. Enterprise is licensed per user and adds full accounting with bank synchronisation, the official UAE localisation, mobile apps, Odoo Studio for no-code customisation, and a range of additional apps and official support. Odoo releases a new version every year.
It matters because the choice sets the running cost and the compliance baseline. A UAE business that needs the VAT return, proper fixed assets, multi-company consolidation and e-invoicing readiness will find these far easier on Enterprise. Community can work for a very small operation or where a developer maintains third-party modules, but that maintenance is a hidden cost.
In an ERP project, decide the edition before scoping, since it changes what is configured versus built. Confirm current per-user pricing with Odoo, choose hosting between Odoo Online, odoo.sh and on-premise, and be careful with community modules that may not be ported to the next yearly release.
