Combining the accounts of several legal entities into one group view, eliminating transactions between them.
Multi-entity consolidation is the process of combining the financial statements of several legal entities, such as a UAE holding company, its mainland and free zone subsidiaries and a Saudi branch, into a single set of group accounts. It involves currency translation, elimination of intercompany balances and transactions, and minority interest adjustments.
It matters because UAE groups commonly hold multiple licences, and owners want one view of the group's profit and cash. Corporate tax grouping rules and transfer pricing documentation also require clean entity-level accounts with intercompany activity identifiable. Consolidating in Excel each month is slow and fragile.
In an ERP project, decide whether every entity will run on one platform with a shared chart of accounts, which makes consolidation routine, or whether some will stay on other systems and be consolidated through a reporting layer. Oracle NetSuite is strong here out of the box; Odoo Enterprise and Business Central handle it with configuration. Define elimination rules and reporting currency early.
